Recorded Abstinence Pledge

"It is constancy the Lord wants," Matt Talbot was ever repeating. In 1884 at the age of 28, Matt made a verbal pledge of sobriety first to his mother and then a confessor and kept that pledge with great difficulty to his dying day 41 years later, in 1925.

This is a copy of an organizational sobriety pledge, recorded in 1890. (JB)
