A New Creation

A Reflection:
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
~ 2 Corinthians 5:17

A Short Prayer:
Lord, as you did with Venerable Matt Talbot, help us to overcome all earthly attachments and self-destructive addictions.  Make us a new creation.  Amen.

Seek the Change That Matters

"To his friends and even his family, Matt Talbot looked like an ordinary, hard-working man with a strong religious bent. On the inside, though, he was a warrior waging a spiritual battle that lasted forty-one years and made him a hero of the faith.

His story shows us that the deepest and longest-lasting changes aren’t the showy, splashy announcements. They are the inner decisions that may only take a second to make but require a lifetime to live out."

Paying Attention to God

The theologian, Dr. Ralph Martin (http://www.shms.edu/content/dr-ralph-martin) has stated that “prayer is, at root, simply paying attention to God.”  This definition is particularly  descriptive of Matt Talbot's focus during the last forty-one years of his life.
